Rékavár in the beginning of the 16th century
Rékavár is a castle in the Eastern Mecsek mountains area, it only exists as ruin in the woods in our time. The former castle of Mecseknádasd habitation was probably built before the Mongol invasion, and it was already destroyed in the middle of the 16th century. We don’t know whether it fell victim to the civil war after the defeat by the Ottomans at Mohács, or to the Ottoman conquest itself. The virtual reconstruction of the castle was created under the supervision of Gergely Buzás according to the archaeological excavations of László Papp, adhering to the LIDAR surveys of the Janus Pannonius Museum of Pécs.
